When Miss Columbia traveled the world between April 1900 and Christmas day 1902, she traveled in style, taking with her 6 extra dresses, a coat and bonnet, copies of Boston newspapers, a red, white and blue sash, a small Amerian Flag and a journal to record her travels. All of this, including Miss Columbia herself, traveled in a telescoping two-piece trunk.
This kit will make a small doll-size version (app. 3"x6"x3") of the original people-sized trunk and diary. All materials, patterns, and instructions are included to make both the trunk and the diary. For the two-piece telescoping trunk this includes heavy paperboard to make the two parts; their coverings, bindings and the travel decals. For the Diary, materials include cardboard and fabrics to cover and bind the journal, with the history of Miss Columbia and her journey inside on pre-printed pages written in old style cursive.
